Confessions of a Shopaholic

My The long-awaited movie has come to cinemas today!

Photobucket

“CONFESSIONS OF A SHOPAHOLIC, starring Isla Fisher as a beautiful, irresponsible and compulsive young woman who’s addicted to fashion and cannot stop spending. Hugh Dancy plays a highly ambitious newspaper editor, a workaholic who is obsessed with his career but has no interest at all in shopping. It sounds like they are polar opposites, yet, as the highly entertaining story unfolds, they discover they have more in common than meets the eye. The film, directed by P.J. Hogan, is based on the novels by Sophia Kinsella; Confessions of a Shopaholic & Shopaholic Takes Manhattan”.

This movie is based on the novels by Sophie Kinsella. If I’m not mistaken, there’s 4 or 5 novels under the Shopaholic series. Introduced by one of my shopaholic friend, I had read all of them. The character Rebecca Bloomwood is hillarious!

Hmm.. i wonder when i can go watch this movie..

~The 4 titles in the series. I think, another one is ‘Shopaholic Ties the Knots’ where she married Fluke Luke Brandon :-) ~

2009

My Feng Shui master said that this year 2009 will be a better one for me compared to last year. Whether to believe him or not, I can see some truth in it. Nevertheless, all are under Allah’s will.

I’m anticipiting a few big events / tasks this year. What I can say, my 2009 is full of plans. The only thing now, I’m focusing and praying hard on them so that Allah will make it come true. Ameen.

PDA Phones

My passion for PDA Phones started long time ago. The need to get one resurfaced when i started working. One of the main reasons was to install the software Micromedex Mobile in my computer. This is a very powerful and useful software for pharmacists, especially for those doing clinical pharmacy. I know that government hospitals (or institutions) buy and renew the software for a quite high price. I’ve seen an invoice of RM 16,000 for renewal of two main functions in that software; DRUGDEX (Drug Information) and POISINDEX (Toxicology Information). But as a staff from that institution that bought this software, we are able to install the mobile version of Micromedex in our Personal Digital Assistant (PDA). The operating system (OS) requirement for this mobile software is either Windows Mobile (WM)(Pocket PCs) or Palm OS. Other OS like Symbian used in smartphones is not compatible. It can be updated instantly at each sync with the latest information.

Many asked me on how to install the Micromedex Mobile in their PDAs. You have to get the facility’s Customer Number from any computer installed with Micromedex in that facility. You’ll have to undergo registration which later requires basic information about you and also the Customer Number. Then, you just follow step-by-step guide on how to install the Micromedex Mobile to your PDA. You may also need an installation CD to install sync software, such as Microsoft ActiveSync (which is usually included when u buy your Pocket PC).

My friend, Ina SMS me last week..asking my recommendation on which brand/model of PDA to buy. She wanted to buy a PDA only, not a PDA phone. I don’t know how great the price difference between the two..as I used to have a PDA phone (which was stolen!). About the brands, I never use any other brands except O2. But, the last time i went to Lowyatt, the seller said the brand O2 is not widely sold in Malaysia now. New models a not many..and there are difficulties in finding the accessories / spare-parts. I dunno what’s the real reason. Maybe he’s trying to push the sale of HTC, a close competitor. I’ve became fond of O2 all this while. The service centre i went was in Berjaya Times Square.

OK, I dedicate this entry to Ina (& myself). I’ll give a short review on some of the latest PDA phones I’m dying to have. The price might be not accurate at the time of printing publication.

Blackberry Phones

Someone talked to me about Blackberry. But I don’t have much interest in Blackberry. Their distinct function is push email (among others). But, I don’t think I really need push email. I’m not the one who always on the go. I get access to internet at home & office, 24 hours a day. If you are interested, you can browse further on Blackberry. Blackberry Pearl is slim in design, while some models of Blackberry Curve has GPS function.

Fitness

So much in my head now. So many things to do. My final exam will be on 20-24th April. This is my final semester before I graduate. And right after the exam, I have to go back to Kuantan to do my short research in Hosp. Tengku Ampuan Afzan, Kuantan. I’m concern about one thing now..my Fitness First membership. I registered for the membership a few months ago, considering I have to get fit again. I have to find a place where I feel secured to exercise, hence the gym.

Photobucket

~ The changing room ~

I like the facilities and ambience there. The club offers over 75 cardio equipment that comes with audio and visual entertainment and more than 40 pieces of weight machines. There is one main group exercise studio and a cycling studio with over 25 cycles. Like other Fitness First clubs worldwide, the club I go also has a refreshing members lounge with complimentary beverages and reading materials, male and female shower areas with steam and sauna facilities.

After exercising, I would relax myself at the members lounge..having wide choices of complementary beverages such as 100 Plus, Iced Lemon Tea, Green Tea, Fruit Tea, Tea, Coffee & plain water. Completed my exercise, I would then treat myself in the sauna room. Therapeutic sauna has been shown to aid adaptation, reduce stress hormones, lower blood pressure and improve cardiovascular conditions (Hannuksela & Ellahham 2001; Kauppinen 1997; McEwen 1998; Vuori 1998).

~ Lockers provided for members ~

I have to pay monthly membership fee..and I got unlimited access 7 days a week. But, unluckily I didn’t go at all last month. During early of the month, I was very busy with my study loads. Then, I fell sick and hospitalized. So, I wasted RM 175 for the monthly fee!

OK, I have to call the Membership Consultant today.. to discuss about my membership contract.

And my left leg is still not fully recovered yet..after the fall in the bathroom. So, I don’t go to gym yet. For the time being, I just stick to swimming at my apartment.

Me & my ‘bf’ (the car)

Photobucket

~ spacious compartment. CNY shopping, Jan 2008 ~

I’m one of the ppl who gives names (& gender) to their cars..hmm.. even my bicycle. I had a bicycle bought during my undergrad..named SKY, but lost him now. Being confiscated for the reason i parked it at wrong areas in IIUM Kuantan campus. I didn’t manage to retrieve it back until I graduated.

I also used a Proton Tiara during my undergraduate years (2nd yr – 4th yr). My friends called him/her (I think it’s unisex, by the way) TA’A (based on the plate). Now, my youngest bro, Uda is using it whenever he’s at home.

Now speaking of my current ‘bf’ ;-) . I called him CBX (Hence, the plate num). I don’t have time to create one good name for him. I’ve been with him since Jan 2007..and never been apart from him. I believe he’s a HIM as he’s a black & sporty chap. :-) . This entry came into my mind today, when I meet CBX again after 18 days not seeing him (I left him in KL when I got sick and balik kg). So sorry he couldn’t drive himself off to Kemaman to see me ..hehe..

I couldn’t explain my feelings when i saw him today..after leaving him for such a long time. My main concern is that he cannot be ignited. I didn’t remember at all to ask anyone to ignite the engine once a while when i wasn’t in KL! (Yea.. I even couldn’t take care of myself when i was sick.. how can i think of any-one(thing) else.. right). Yes, as expected..the engine couldn’t be ignited. Owhh.. Luckily my housemate, Sham was there. So she made a jumpstart by the help of her car. Then, my CBX was alive! Yeay! I drove him for a while.. going down and up the parking building of my apartment.. (since I wasn’t totally fit to drive yet). Then, i let him rest for a while.

~ Lebuhraya Pantai Timur (LPT), KL – Kuantan ~

Alhamdullillah.. unlike many Gen-2 users, I don’t have much prob with my car. I got in January 2007, so i guess it was produced in 2006 (3 years after the first edition launched..if I’m not mistaken). Mine has 1600cc. I really love the handling, especially for long distance. I’m a frequent (& skillfull ??) driver/traveller. I’ve been driving for 9 years (remembering how ‘old’ I am now..). I can drive either manual or automatic transmission. I’ve encountered many experience while driving. And being a female driver, I can’t deny that the risks are many. But, I don’t have much choices except praying that God grants me a safe journey..

To cut the story short, I’m still afraid of the possibility of CBX go dead again. So, I gathered my will and strength to drive to IIUM Gombak to see my sis there. Being not totally recovered from my sickness, we shortly attended a wedding in Gombak and I went back in her room.. resting my body. When I regained my strength, I went to Tmn Melati to meet a friend who brought me to a workshop which opens on Sundays. So, they gave my CBX a check-up on the battery and did his routine service + air-cond service which I think he needs.

Thanks a lot, mission accomplished..Alhamdulillah.. Now I can go back resting..so that I can get back to work/study soon.
